Mount Fuji,
the Peerless
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This assignment was part of the Directing Contemporary Styles course, to work in conjunction with a Contemporary Performance Theory Seminar. Students were expected to devise a 20-minute performance using Viewpoints exercises and a list of requirement elements from the professor to learn to devise under unique conditions.
The scene was performed in a black box proscenium space and featured stylistically appropriate direction, design, costumes, lighting, and properties without a budget. I cast the piece from the available undergraduate students at Baylor University, and was allotted 18 rehearsals that could not exceed two hours over a span of three weeks.
